...No problem! :dummy:

I actually just was helping :icondivine-princess: out in a note about this and I realized... why not turn it into a journal so other people can benefit? ^^ Just as a note--- this only really applies to Windows users as that's what I'm running. ^^;

Okay so this is by no means the only setup to make speedpaints however this is just the programs I use/the way I do things. ^^ I had wanted to make speedpaints for a while however finding a screen recording program was difficult as a lot of them look pretty sketchy and I was nervous about viruses and crap but the setup I've found it completely safe/legit so if that's something you're worried about.. you can put your mind at ease. :dummy:

So, you're going to need 2 programs-- both which are free :)

1) Windows Movie Maker --- support.microsoft.com/en-us/he…
So it technically comes in a pack of a couple programs--- but I believe when I downloaded it, during the setup it gave me the option to select which programs I wanted to install. However if for some reason it doesn't, you can probably always uninstall the extra programs later. ^^

2) Livestream Procaster -- original.livestream.com/usergu…
So basically as it sounds it's main purpose was originally a Livestream broadcasting program. However you can make it so it doesn't stream anything and you can just record your screen with it. I never would have realized you could use it in this manner however a YouTuber I'm subscribed to talked about it and explained it in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbN3uU… and it honestly works great. ^w^ I would recommend watching the video because she'll explain how to set it up and use it and whatever.

  • As a note, I have my capture quality setting at "Medium + Mobile (876Kbps)" however you'll just have to play around and see what works for your computer best. ^^

So basically I film my screen with Procaster and take the clip into Windows Movie Maker. Once you insert the clip into Movie Maker, under the "edit tab" there's a box that says "speed". Select the clip and chose how fast you want to speed it up. I usually do 16x or 32x or something in between the two-- it just depends on how much footage I have and how long I want the video to be.

Once you have all the clips in you can add music on top (look on the home tab). Of course you can add music you already have on your computer. However, you can run into copyright issues with YouTube. Issues can vary from just playing ads on your video, to muting the sound on your video, to getting a strike on your account. >m< I've never had a strike on my account however I have had videos muted which can become cumbersome. If you're not sure, when in doubt try looking on incompetech.com/music/royalty-… for music!! All their music is free to use and it's quite good. c: A lot of YouTubers seem to use their music for things.

There's other little things you can play around with in movie maker like adding title cards or captions. :)

I make watermarks on my videos by
  1. typing my username into a caption
  2. turning the text size small
  3. making the text a dark grey
  4. moving it to the corner of my video
  5. turning the opacity down on the text,
  6. and changing the duration to a really large number so it plays through my entire video.

When everything is done and I'm ready to save... I click  File > Save Movie > For High Definition Display

... and viola! :dummy: You've got yourself a speedpaint! It's really pretty easy so hopefully I didn't make it sound too difficult. :dummy:

If you're stumped or need help or get a specific question or something please just feel free to note me. :la:
